This book was written in 93AD at Ephesus by John the disciple of Jesus.
My young precious ones, this letter is meant to help you escape from all of your sins. But if you do fall into sin, remember that you have a person who will talk to God (Father) for us whose name is Jesus the upright one who always does God the Father's will. 2:1
And Jesus is the sacrificial payment for we Christians. He didn't just pay for the Christians but everyone else on the planet who lives and will ever live. This verse rebukes some of the teachings of Augustine of Hippo, John Calvin, and Ulrich Zwingli. 2:2
